ASOS Skater Dress

Simple dresses and obnoxiously large jewelry is where it’s at. I got both of these pieces from ASOS which is one of my go-to’s for my staple pieces like tees, dresses, and jeans. I noticed something was missing from my dress collection (which has recently become smaller), a simple dress that can be thrown on under my assortment of jackets, can be paired with cute tights or socks and can be worn with my knee high boots. The button detailing down the front also gives it some extra flair that I haven’t found in many skater dresses.

Now let’s talk about this necklace, I can’t wait to throw this on with all of my oversized tees and distressed shorts this summer. I’ve never been a huge jewelry girl, normally sticking to staple pieces like my ring collection and a basic short chained necklace however I really like the idea of spicing up a somewhat plain jane outfit with something so drastic as this necklace. If you are looking to rework your wardrobe adding some statement jewelry pieces are a fun, simple, and cheap way to do it. Happy Monday friends!

There’s something about a simple striped tee that I can’t seem to get over. Unfortunately I was being extremely pick with my choice. For one, I wanted it to be a good price and secondly I wanted it to be a super soft boyfriend fit. After a few weeks of searching I finally stumbled upon this beauty from Brandy Melville which never seems to let me down with basics. I also resurrected these MIA fringe sandals that I couldn’t resist bringing out on this sunny day in So Cal.

Lingerie Style

I finally found the perfect lingerie style dress at H&M right before Christmas and just had to have it. What you can’t see is the lace accents on the top of the dress but I wanted to show it’s versatility with layering. I threw on my UNIF shredded shredded sweater over it and voila, you have some edgy fun.

I also found this amazing lightweight speckled blazer at the thrift store during my last visit. I must say for $10 it doesn’t disappoint.

Zara Camel Coat

Finally purchased this coat I had been lusting over for the past 2 months. Unfortunately they ran out of an XS so I opted for the small. At the end of the day it worked out better since I intend on wearing a lot of sweaters underneath it and I’m usually a fan of being able to bend my arms completely. Camel accents black and white so perfectly so I knew it would go well with my current wardrobe. Zara has such an amazing assortment of coats for a reasonable price and since H&M sold out of the few I had been interested in purchasing I’m glad I could finally snag this one for a mere $80.

On a side note if you are looking to invest in a coat and aren’t able to splurge I would recommend checking your local GoodWill or other second hand clothing store nearby. You can find really high quality coats for around $20! While thrifting isn’t for everyone, designer wool coats will last a long time and you can barely tell they were ever worn. Why not reuse if you can right?

A few months back I was graciously asked to test out a new upcoming app called StyleSpotter. This app allows you to share your fashion expertise with other members through sharing your style picks. You can save those pair of Sam Edelman booties you’ve been dying to buy or you can create entire categories of style inspiration ranging from shoes to fall coats to the perfect evening handbags!

stylespotter4

The thing I enjoy most about this app is it gives me a great way to organize my favorite seasonal pieces while also giving myself a great guideline for narrowing down my spending. IF you are like me, there is always a new season of designs coming out and your wallet just can’t seem to keep up. By portioning out my favorite pieces I can focus on when my budget will align with that pair of knee high boots I’ll be needing this winter. Once you select an item you will automatically be pushed to the website if you want to proceed with purchasing! Super easy right? The layout is very clean & simple, plus they are constantly increasing their product assortment. Some of the big names they already have include Zara, Nordstroms and Urban Outfitters.

stylespotter2

Definitely give this one a go if you are a frequent online window shopper like myself, it will help you organize and find fashion inspiration for every upcoming season.

For more information and to download StyleSpotter from the app store visit their site here!

Finally back on my blog game. It’s been incredibly crazy with the Holiday’s and end of the year shenanigans at work. A few weeks back I took a trip to LA for the Spanish Moss warehouse/sample sale. I am pleased to announce I picked up this little fringy number after pulling a ton of other items which ended up being no-go’s.

I usually don’t frequent sample sales just because I don’t live in the LA area but this one was relatively mellow. At one point however another girl was giving me the evil eye because she had the same exact dress on hold which had mysteriously gone missing. After 3 times of explaining that this was not her dress (mine is missing the top button) she backed down…a bit.

I paired this dress with a recent thrifted coat purchase. I stepped into my local Goodwill looking for a 70s style furry coat and low and behold this baby just happened to cross my path. Although the fabric is a little cheesy and it sheds (a lot), it was still worth it. All I need is a pair bell bottoms and I’ll be the spitting image of Jackie from that 70s show!

First off, not being able to blog as much lately has really been a downer. I truly miss sharing my everyday looks with all of you. Be sure to follow my Instagram for more frequent updates. It is more evident every single day that I am becoming a shopaholic. These insane black friday, cyber monday, and sample sale deals have drained my bank account. But with these amazing sales, I was finally was able to purchase something from Reformation this last weekend and I couldn’t be happier. This is the softest sweater I have ever had the pleasure of slipping my arms into. One of the main reasons I love their pieces are the sheer simplicity of design and the fact that they are constantly bettering their impact on the earth by using surplus fabrics and green practices in production. I am proud to say that I am officially a #RefBabe.

I also apologize for the lighting and blurred photos in advance. I think it adds a little something extra but it was not originally planned. I will be shooting tons of looks this weekend so prepare for some higher quality.

As I have graduated college and moved into the working world you finally get a feeling of what monotony really is. Getting up every morning at the same time, sitting at the same desk, and using your brain to complete the same tasks. While my job isn’t always monotonous, sometimes you can’t help but get in that rut. What I love as of late is seeing some of my old classmates, friends, and co-workers pushing their entrepreneurial spirits into high gear. Take for example the above handmade embroidery for my blog Unconscious Style made by one of my old co-workers Meghan Foster. She creates the cutest and geekiest embroideries that are perfect for your room, home, or office.

Her Etsy shop Totally Barbaric is something that while starting off small can grow huge with the right amount of spirit and dedication. This is one of the reasons I wanted a custom embroidery for my blog, almost as a reminder to keep pursuing what you love to do.

Be sure to check out her shop for more designs, she also takes custom orders!

Zippora Jumper

Nothing like a Saturday at the beach! I kept it nice and cozy in my new MINKPINK Zippora Jumper. I had been eyeing this sweater for awhile but unfortunately with only limited retailers selling this Australian brand I was having a difficult time finding it in a small. After a few hours of researching I finally found it on ShopAkira for a fraction of the cost compared to other online retailers. I was beyond stoked! The sweater is super soft and a tad oversized which makes it a perfect beach look. I paired it with a black skater skirt and some pointed booties for a little shopping, relaxation, and delicious breakfast burritos.

The Blue Hat

It’s been incredibly difficult for me to find hats that fit my head so when I came across this Roxy fedora I was shocked by my immediate acceptance to purchase. Not to mention the hat was marked at a very reasonable price! The deep royal blue color is yet another one of my favorites for fall. Hats are the perfect accessory to spice up a simple outfit. By pairing it with my favorite Zara waxed denim trousers, white v-neck and black denim jacket it gave me the perfect fall look and I am excited to begin pairing it with some of my other favorite fall colors! (burgundy, mustard, forest green, pale pink)

Roxy has really been stepping up their apparel game and I am in love with their fall collection filled with oversized sweaters, colored denim, and army green jackets. Definitely worth checking out.
